  • Beschreibung: Thirty years have passed since Kaarina Kaikkonen's debut exhibition. Over this period, the artist has touched people around the world, leaving an indelible mark. Her installations have waved in public spaces and have been recorded on the cameras of thousands of passers-by; she has included local volunteers in her projects and has cooperated with myriad organizations. Kaikonnen's art is communal but speaks to the individual.0Behind their delicate aesthetic character, the works of Kaarina Kaikkonen take positions and provoke thought. the artist does not hesitate from addressing human rights issues, immigration growing into womanhood, or the inherent challenges of being human. In spite of their strong subject matter, Kaikkonen's works are innately human. The material Kaikkonen uses - old clothes - makes this possible. The humanity and life that old clothes once contained remains crystallized within them. Life, and respect for life, is present in Kaikkonen's art. The book showcases Kaikkonen's production around the world manly from 2000 through 2014. The articles are written by Director Marina Dacci, Critic Marja-Terttu Kivirinta and Curator Julia P. Herzberg, who all have followed Kaikkonen's production for many years.00Exhibition: Galerie Forsblom, Helsinki, Finland (14.03-06.04.2014)
