Over the course of a year, four young Dutch designers were invited to let their imaginations run wild in Onomatopee’s exhibition space. All four projects draw attention to our DIY culture through installations that propose new production models. This catalog—also a useful pocket reader—recaps the now-completed series, its workshops and other interactive programs. Maurice Meewisse’s exhibit, 'If Only I Were', led a group walk in the forest to select the perfect tree to build his timber-frame cabin in the gallery space; Julien Carretero examined plaster tiles as a contemporary building technology and created a production chain that exposed their potential for amateur builders in 'Domestic Reuse'; Gijs Gieskes used household detritus, from table legs to kitchen utensils, for new guerilla electronics in 'Household Hacking'; while Bjørn Anderson took a more historical approach, analyzing case studies of architectural plans proposing unusual solutions for public space
