  • Beschreibung: How does art history look with the eyes of an artist? Rønnebæksholm has invited artist Julie Sass to present her short story about an artistic phenomenon that is the focal point of her work. Her choice has fallen on abstraction. Through 60 works by 23 artists from 11 countries and over a historical span of just under 100 years, the exhibition frames elements of the abstraction that Sass sees the greatest potential today, and which she herself gives form through newly produced works.0When the story is written, whether it is the story of an era, a country or an artistic concept, there are always events, places, people and objects that gain weight and fullness, while others are omitted. It must be so; not everything can be taken with. Any historical writing is therefore an abstraction over reality, where relatively few elements will be the pointers of the story being told. It is therefore important to periodically look at the history of the seams. Is that what was left out yesterday, important today? Are there other places to focus on? Other narrators to speak? How would art history look if it was written by artists?0With the exhibition' A Brief History of Abstraction', a new story unfolds about the history and potential of abstraction today, by showing works and presenting relationships that have not previously been evident in a Scandinavian context. 00Exhibition: Rønnebaeksholm, Næstved, Denmark (05.05.-02.09.2018)
